Jay Edwards didn’t actually see the shot, but he knew it was good.

Edwards was knocked to the floor after releasing his three-point bomb just before the buzzer that lifted ninth-ranked Indiana to a 76-75 victory over No. 13 Michigan Sunday in a Big Ten Conference game at Bloomington, Ind.

“I heard everybody scream,” Edwards said, explaining how he knew the shot went in. “I couldn’t believe it at first. I’m just now realizing what happened.

“I think I heard a horn while it was in the air. I didn’t hear it before I shot it.”

On the Michigan side, they weren’t so sure about that.

“I’ll get ripped if I say it was good because people will say I’m not standing up for my team, and I’ll get ripped if I say it wasn’t good because they’ll say I was making excuses,” Michigan Coach Bill Frieder said.

Added Rumeal Robinson, who scored 24 points for the Wolverines: “We had the game in our hands. A referee call in a crucial game like this is what will give them the Big Ten championship.”
