Alice Brown, formerly of Cal State Northridge, won the women’s 60-meter dash in an indoor track meet at Karlsruhe, West Germany, after lodging a protest.
Officials first declared Laurence Bily of France the winner but later reversed the decision and gave the race to Brown with a time of 7.15 seconds. That equals the American record set by LSU’s Dawn Sowell last week in the Times/Eagle Indoor Games at the Forum.
Robson da Silva of Brazil set a world indoor record by winning the rarely run 300-meter sprint in 32.19 seconds. He beat Olympic 400-meter champion Steve Lewis of UCLA, who was timed in 32.98.
