William K. Conway, a part-time Glendale maintenance worker accused of killing four pedestrians while driving drunk, has been released from jail on $10,000 bail.

Conway, 27, is charged with four counts of manslaughter and two counts of causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges were leveled after a July 13 accident involving two Glendale families.

At a hearing Tuesday, Pasadena Superior Court Judge Gilbert C. Alston ordered Conway released on $10,000 bail on the condition that he wear an electronic device on his arm that can be used to monitor his movements.

Conway’s mother posted the bail Tuesday, Deputy Dist. Atty. James E. Rogan said.

Conway had been held at Los Angeles County Jail since his car struck the pedestrians waiting on a traffic island to cross a Glendale street.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled March 28, Rogan said.
