Slide Kills Swedish Skier

ANNECY, France —
An avalanche killed one Swedish skier and badly injured another in the French Alps. Police in this eastern French city said Thursday that five Germans also were caught in the slide Wednesday about 8,200 feet up and near the Swiss border, but they escaped harm.
