Border Ditch Controversy

Share

We would like to respond to the article concerning the proposed ditch to be built between Mexico and the United States. As American citizens, with proud Mexican heritages, we are appalled with the idea of building a ditch.

We feel that many Mexicans are forced by economic needs to come and work in the United States. They are concerned with the future of their children. Our problem is that we, as Americans, don’t understand the incredible needs of economically disadvantaged people. The United States doesn’t show respect or friendship to its southern neighbors. The United States economic policies of the past have been very unfair and have not given Mexico an opportunity or a helping hand.

Look back into the past and remember that at one time part of the United States was owned by Mexico, until the United States took it away by the invasion of Mexico.

We are all Americans. We propose instead of building a ditch let us build a bridge of friendship and understanding.
