Sudan’s feuding political parties continued talks in an effort to find a solution to the political crisis growing out of the Sudanese civil war. Military leaders demanded two weeks ago that Prime Minister Sadek Mahdi reform his government to include moderate parties seeking peace with southern non-Muslim rebels, whose demands include suspension of Islamic sharia law. Mahdi responded by threatening to resign today unless he received support from the military and trade unions.
