Canada to Raise Pay of Federal Employees
From Associated Press
OTTAWA —
The Canadian government and its largest union have signed a tentative settlement that would give 165,000 federal public servants increases averaging 4.2% a year over a 42-month contract.
The proposal, which covers 35 employee groups, will be submitted to members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada for a vote without a recommendation from union leaders to accept or reject.
The alliance had been seeking increases of about 6% to recover ground lost to inflation in recent contracts.
