Another Musical Triumph Over Adversity: Maxim Shostakovich was scheduled to be on the podium Wednesday night to conduct a sold-out concert that backers hope marks the end of years of debt and discord for the New Orleans Symphony. The symphony suspended operation a year ago, unable to pay its musicians and nearly $4 million in debt. It is reopening with the help of volunteers, corporate gifts, donated services and free rent for five years.
