LANTANA (Lantana camara): A native of tropical America, lantana (sometimes called red sage or yellow sage) is cultivated widely in Southern California. The shrubby plant grows to 6 feet tall and has small orange or yellow to red flowers that grow in a flat-topped head about 2 inches wide. All parts of the plant are toxic to humans, causing gastrointestinal irritation, muscular weakness, lethargy and circulatory collapse if eaten or swallowed.
