Bomb Wounds 2 Israel Soldiers, 4 Others in South Lebanon
A bomb exploded Friday on a main road north of Israel’s self-declared security zone, wounding two Israeli soldiers and four other people, officials said.
Police in Lebanon said the six included Israeli troops and allied Lebanese militiamen. In Jerusalem, an Israeli army official said the victims included two Israeli soldiers and four Lebanese civilians.
The police said the explosion occurred along the main Kawkaba-Marjayoun road in the southern Lebanese town of Marjayoun, about 6 miles north of the security zone. The region is patrolled by Norwegian soldiers of the U.N. peacekeeping force.
In Beirut, the pro-Iranian Shiite Muslim Hezbollah, or Party of God, claimed responsibility for the roadside bomb.
