World : 18 Africans Leaving ‘Racist’ China

BEIJING — Eighteen young Africans studying in China said today that they can no longer tolerate racism and are returning home, the first group to leave the country since racial violence erupted in December.
“We are leaving because of racism against blacks. It’s the simple reason why I cannot continue,” said Ibnou Ndiaye, a Senegalese engineering student in Shanghai. Eighteen out of 25 Senegalese studying in China will have left the country by Monday, students said. Many of the 1,500 or so Africans studying in China want to go home but do not have authorization from their embassies, they said.
