Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko of the Soviet Union won the ice dance title at the World Figure Skating Championships in Paris.
Klimova and Ponomarenko scored six perfect marks of 6.0 to finish just ahead of teammates Maia Usova and Aleksandr Zhulin. Isabell and Paul Duchesnay of France were third.
Jill Trenary of Colorado Springs leads in the women’s program, with Claudia Leistner of West Germany and Midori Ito of Japan second and third, respectively, going into today’s free-skating program.
