--The Rushdie furor will be one of the topics at a seminar called “Anatomy of Hate,” organized by the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. The Nobel Prize-winning Wiesel said: “Usually, all the conferences are for love and for compassion, and I wanted to name the disease.” The conference will unite philosophers, writers and psychologists to ponder the roots of hatred. The foundation cited several examples of hate, including the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in Scotland, ethnic violence in the Soviet Union and assaults by “skinheads” in the United States. Among the scheduled participants at the conference is Camelia Sadat, daughter of slain Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
