AMSTERDAM — Finance ministers of the “Group of Eight” Latin American countries agreed here today to meet in Washington early next month to review the new U.S. debt initiative, Uruguayan Finance Minister Ricardo Zerbino said.
“It was agreed that the initiative is not sufficiently clear yet and that the Washington meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss some of the topics,” he said.
The ministers--from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela--met here over breakfast during the Inter-American Development Bank annual meeting being held this week in Amsterdam. The eighth member, Panama, was suspended from the group last year after its elected president, Eric Arturo Delvalle, was ousted by the military.
