The Justice Department said Monday that General Electric Co. has agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle out of court four lawsuits alleging fraud in military contract work.

One of the federal suits accused General Electric of falsely certifying engine parts as having been tested according to contract requirements at its aircraft engine center in Seattle.

Two other suits charged that General Electric had submitted false labor vouchers for work done at its Evendale, Ohio, aircraft engine plant, and the fourth suit alleged that a GE employee at Evendale took kickbacks. General Electric denied all the allegations.
