Minority Jobs and Clean Air

Share

The authors make a valid and, regrettably, often overlooked point. Minorities are not full participants in the environmental movement. However, they miss the larger point. The primary objective of the environment agenda is public health. Everyone in Los Angeles is at risk when our environment is unhealthy. We all share our air and water. Minorities breathe the same smoggy air as whites. They depend on the same contaminated water supply.

If anything, the environmental cause ought to unify low-income minorities with suburban whites against the polluters who care more for their profits than public health.
