Jordan Postpones Buying British Jets

LONDON —
Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said Thursday that Jordan has postponed a $688-million deal to buy eight Tornado fighter jets from Britain because of the Arab nation’s economic crisis.
It is believed that Jordan will go ahead with an existing contract to buy 12 Mirage fighters from France.
