TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — At least 33 people have been arrested in central Florida in connection with a multimillion-dollar interstate sports betting ring, state and federal officials announced today.
The Louisville, Ky.,-based operation accepted bets nationwide on college and professional basketball, football and baseball in addition to horse racing.
Phone taps were used in the investigation.
“We’ve got calls where thousands were bet by one person on one game,” said Don Marblestone, assistant statewide prosecutor. “We’re not talking people betting 10, 20, 30 bucks.”
