Elizabeth N. McNamee of Culver City High School, Victoria J. Edmond of the Marlborough School and Paul M. Magwene of Loyola High School are among 546 outstanding black students nationwide who were named award winners in the 1989 Achievement Scholarship competition.

The winners were chosen from about 90,000 student competitors. They will receive scholarships financed by 120 corporations, foundations, businesses and professional associations and by large individual and group donations.

The achievement program, which was established in 1964 by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., provides financial support to promising black students to further their education.
