Washington Says It’s Not Worst Crime City

WASHINGTON —
The District of Columbia is not the nation’s crime capital, despite recent publicity that drug-related violence on Washington streets is out of control, a city survey released Thursday showed.
The D.C. Office of Criminal Justice Plans and Analysis survey of police departments from across the nation showed that 15 major cities have higher overall crime rates than the district, despite its leading per capita murder rate.
