At least eight robberies in northern Colorado have been solved by the confessions of 82-year-old Jack Kelm, who says he needed the money to supplement his Social Security.

Kelm, who was arrested first in 1921 and spent about 40 years in jail, admitted the “salt and pepper” heists--so called because of the assailant’s hair color--after he was detained last week for robbing a bank, police said.

Kelm confessed to six robberies of banks, restaurants and supermarkets in Ft. Collins.
