Beech-Nut Punished: Eighteen months after it was convicted of selling bogus apple juice to consumers, Beech-Nut Corp. has been debarred from doing any business with the federal government through 1991. The corporation, suspended from federal contracting since December, 1986, is being debarred “to protect the government’s interest in doing business only with contractors who conduct business with honesty and integrity,” the Pentagon’s order states. The debarment, which Ft. Washington, Pa.-based Beech-Nut contested, was announced by the Defense Logistics Agency. The company was advised of the decision in a letter dated March 3.
