Caduff Wins Men’s Downhill Race in Japan

Daniel Caduff beat fellow Swiss skier Peter Mueller by 0.01 seconds to win the men’s downhill race today in the Lark Sports World International Grand Prix in north-central Japan.

Austria’s Anita Wachter, who won the women’s downhill in the Japan Alpine Ski Championships at the same Shiga Kogen ski course Tuesday, captured the women’s crown again today with a time of 1:43.27.

Caduff, 21, flashed down the 8,356-foot course in one minute, 37.36 seconds, beating 31-year-old Mueller, now ranked sixth by the International Ski Federation. Mueller finished in 1:37.37.
