AT&T; Opens Labor Talks: American Telephone & Telegraph Co. and its unions opened talks on a new contract, with the labor groups calling on the telephone giant to let workers share in its financial success of recent years. AT&T;’s current three-year contracts with the Communications Workers of America, which represents 135,000 employees, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which represents 40,000 workers, expire May 27. Unions say wages and job security are major issues.
