66 Drug Dealers Executed in Iran

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Iran hanged 66 drug dealers Thursday.
A total of 379 traffickers have been executed since a major drive to stamp out the narcotics trade was launched in January.
Officials say there are a million addicts in Iran.
Thursday’s executions took place in Tehran, where 17 were hanged, and in 19 other cities around the country, the offical Islamic Republic News Agency reported. Some of the hangings were in public squares and some behind prison walls. IRNA did not give details.
