The Fresno-based California Air National Guard began converting to the most modern equipment available with the arrival of its first F-16 Fighting Falcon jet. Eighteen of the newer F-16s have been assigned to the Air Guard to replace F-4 Phantoms, and the first was flown into the base, at the edge of Fresno Air Terminal, as local and military dignitaries looked on.
