Nation : Friend of Mayor Barry Indicted
Charles Lewis, former Virgin Islands official and friend of District of Columbia Mayor Marion Barry Jr., was indicted today on 10 felony counts stemming from Barry’s visits to his hotel room last December.
The grand jury indicted Lewis, who also is facing cocaine possession charges in the Virgin Islands, on three counts of cocaine possession and seven counts of giving false statements to the grand jury.
The perjury charges center on questions Lewis was asked about visits Barry made to his hotel room and what went on there, according to sources close to the case.
