Bases around the world have been warned to look for more than 1,400 Air Force identification cards and security badges stolen in a break-in at a base personnel office, the Air Force said today.

The cards, taken in a weekend burglary at McGuire AFB, would have to be processed by sophisticated counterfeiters before they could be used by terrorists or spies to gain access to restricted areas, base spokesman Lt. Michael Murk said.

They are more likely intended by the thief or thieves to provide access to military commissaries, base exchanges or check-cashing services, he said.
