Sign-Ups Begin for 12-Week Counselor Training Program

The Southeast Area Counseling Center is accepting applications through May 6 for its counselors’ training class. The 12-week program, which began with an orientation session last week and costs $150, includes intensive training in basic counseling skills, advanced skill-building and role playing.

The nonprofit community center provides individual and group counseling, marriage and family counseling and child-abuse counseling to low- and middle-income clients.

A staff of volunteer supervisors and on-going training is available for students who need an internship for marriage, family and child counseling and clinical licensing hours.

Applications are available from Alice Hessing at 868-9919. The center’s next training program will be in September. The center is at 10909 Orr & Day Road.
