Dina Geerling reportedly has been “deprogrammed” from her allegiance to the religious group Great Among the Nations and will meet today with investigators to discuss her abduction last week from the group, San Diego Police Detective David Morris said Wednesday.

Morris said he received a call Wednesday morning from a family member saying Geerling, 37, was safe, and he was told he could expect to meet her today. That meeting was originally expected to be held Wednesday.

Benjamin Altschul, leader of the group, which claims to be a fundamental Bible study and evangelism ministry but which critics call a cult, said Wednesday that he had not yet heard from Geerling, a longtime member of the organization, which is now headquartered in Coronado with 16 members.

Geerling was abducted by four men from the parking lot of her workplace in San Diego last Thursday. She is the 10th member of the group to be taken from it over the past five years.

The district attorney’s office is prosecuting family members and two deprogrammers who last year allegedly kidnaped and falsely imprisoned Ginger Brown, who was released after four days in custody and returned to the group.
