Power Outage Hits 1,200 Westminster Households
About 1,200 households in Westminster were without power for about 40 minutes Saturday when balloons became entangled in power lines and caused a transformer to blow.
Mike Martin, Westminster area manager for Southern California Edison Co., said the power outage occurred at 7:10 p.m. Power was returned at 7:50 p.m. to all but about 40 customers, whose power was to be restored after midnight, Martin said.
The outage was within the area bordered by the Garden Grove Freeway on the north, Rancho Road on the south, Bolsa Chica Road on the west and Golden West Street on the east.
