Ecology or Ice Cream?

How very interesting to read that Michael Mish has been interviewing “kids all over the place, from 3 to 9 years old. They are very worried about what’s happening to the environment” (“Pied Piper of the Environment” by Connie Koennen, April 19).
I suspect he must go to schools for very bright children, because the ones I talk to of that age have never heard of the environment and their only concern is where the next ice cream cone is coming from.
I’m sure Mish is on the right track, but I do feel he would get much more done about air pollution, etc. if he mixed a bit more with his peers, or politicians who can do something about it if pressed hard enough.
