PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia — Two Czechoslovak dissidents, jailed since last October, were released Wednesday after an appeals court upheld their original suspended sentences.
The court rejected a prosecutor’s appeal against 10-month suspended sentences imposed March 17 on Hana Marvanova and Tomas Dvorak, co-founders of the Independent Peace Assn. It ordered their immediate release.
Dvorak, 24, and Marvanova, 26, were accused of sedition in connection with a banned rally last August marking the 20th anniversary of the Soviet-led invasion and a similar gathering marking the 70th anniversary of independence last October.
The rallies were broken up by riot police with truncheons and dogs.
