Jan Hickenbottom, owner of Condo Consulting Services in Thousand Oaks, has been elected president of the Los Angeles County chapter of Community Associations Institute, a nonprofit research and education organization to develop and distribute information on the creation, financing, operation and maintenance of multifamily housing projects.

ACCOLADES: Founder and senior partner of Hirsch/Bedner & Associates, Howard Hirsch, has been awarded the third annual Designers West Ray Bradbury Creativity award. The Santa Monica-based firm focuses on the international hotel industry, with emphasis on professional discipline.

Brokers

Scott Perley has been named vice president and branch manager of the Newport Beach office of Cushman & Wakefield of California Inc. Perley will direct the daily activities of the branch, including its brokerage, financial and appraisal services.

Stephen Shapiro has entered into partnership with Stan Herman in the Beverly Hills real estate firm of Stan Herman & Associates. Shapiro will own 50% of the business and will become president while Herman will become its chairman. Shapiro is also founder of Moving Experience, a division of the company leasing high-end properties.

The post of vice president at Amric Realty has been filled by David H. Gayne. His responsibilities will include direct management of the commercial sales staff and institutional sales division. Amric is a real estate brokerage company located in West Los Angeles.

Charter Commercial Brokerage Co. has announced the addition of Dwight Shelton as a corporate account consultant to its Newport Beach regional office. The firm only represents the interests of those companies leasing or purchasing real estate and not property owners.

Architects

Scott R. Adams has joined Bassenian/Lagoni Architects of Orange County in the new position of planning services manager. He will implement the entire site planning operation. The residential architecture and land planning firm specializes in single-family detached housing projects, as well as townhouse, condominium, apartment and active-senior housing projects.

Property Managers

Stath J. Karras has been appointed vice president and manager of the John Burnham & Co., real estate management department. Karras will supervise management services in Burnham’s downtown, Escondido and Rancho California offices. He has extensive background in property and asset management, leasing, consulting, plus financial and property analysis.

Barbara Steck has been named director of public relations for CCC Industries Inc., headquartered in Los Angeles. She brings 15 years of experience in commercial real estate management. Steck also served as president of the Building Owners & Managers Assn. of Orange County in 1987.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate Management Services has announced that Jacqueline Black will become manager of Northrop Plaza, a 15-story office building in Century City. Black will oversee its day-to-day operations.

JMB Property Management Co. has named two leasing specialists to be representatives at the Century Plaza Towers in Century City: Randi Woodward and Andrew C. Stewart.
