‘Calling Wilding What It Is: Evil’
Once again, we’re presented with a crime vicious enough to shock the nation and once again, justice will be the loser after some defense attorney presents the perpetrators as “basically good boys caught up in the moment.” At best, they’ll spend some time in a juvenile rehabilitation center, but the citizens of New York City can count on them being back on the streets before long, robbing, raping and murdering.
Strange how things seldom change. Strange also that nobody is screaming for a ban on bricks or metal pipes, the weapons used in the attack. Could it be that the gun lobby has a good idea--outlaw outlaws instead of guns? Could the police be right--tough sentences would help deter crime? Could the death penalty for murderers prevent them from murdering again? Could common sense prevail before--nah--everything’s just peachy.
Wise up, America. The rest of the world is laughing at us for the way we coddle our criminals.
