Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. announced the retirement of John J. Creedon, president and chief executive, after 47 years with the company. Creedon will step down Sept. 1. Met Life has a mandatory policy of retirement at age 65 for certain high-level executive positions. Chairman Robert G. Schwartz will assume the additional responsibilities of president and chief executive.
