Susan Butcher, three-time Iditarod champion, was named as the winner of the 22nd annual Amateur Athlete Achievement Award.

Butcher won the 1,200-mile sled-dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska, in 1986, 1987 and 1988, making her the first musher to win the event three consecutive years. This year, she finished second behind Joe Runyan.
