NATION : Ex-L.A. Officer Guilty in 3 Murders
One-time Los Angeles police officer Steven Homick was convicted today of killing three people during a December, 1985, robbery at the home of a Las Vegas socialite.
Homick, 48, was convicted of three counts of murder, burglary and robbery. A District Court jury deliberated two days before returning the verdict. Prosecutors said they plan to seek the death penalty.
Homick was convicted of the Dec. 11, 1985, slayings of socialite Bobbie Jean Tipton; her maid, Marrie Bullock, and James Myers, a deliveryman who stumbled upon the crime scene at Tipton’s southeast Las Vegas home. He is also charged in the so-called “Ninja” slayings of a Brentwood couple in September, 1985.
