NATION : Ex-Reagan Aide Named BYU Head

PROVO, Utah —
Rex E. Lee, U.S. solicitor general during Ronald Reagan’s first term as President, was named today the 10th president of Brigham Young University.
The appointment is effective July 1, said Gordon B. Hinckley, one of two counselors to President Ezra Taft Benson of the Mormon Church. Lee succeeds Jeffrey Holland, chief administrator of the 27,000-student university since 1980.
