Jail Escapee Walks Into Station After He’s Shot
An escapee from a minimum-security jail in San Bernardino County walked into a police station in North Hollywood, but not because he wanted to turn himself in. Jerome Prince, 32, had been shot once in the abdomen about half a block from the station, Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey said.
After the wounded Prince staggered inside the station and described his assailants, Los Angeles police arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder, Coffey said. The motive for the shooting had not been determined, he said.
Early Sunday, Prince walked away from Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center in San Bernardino County, where he was serving a one-year jail sentence on a narcotics charge, county sheriff’s spokesman Jim Bryant said.
Prince was shot late Sunday, in the 11400 block of Tiara Street in North Hollywood, Coffey said.
Police arrested Terrence Lee, 19, of San Bernardino and David Boone, 31, of Van Nuys, who were at the scene and fit descriptions of the assailants, Coffey said.
Prince was hospitalized in fair condition.
