A jury decided that a former Cal State Chico student should be sentenced to death for robbing and killing a retired Chico doctor and his wife. Steve Crittenden, 22, lowered his head as jurors announced their decision in Placer County Superior Court after about 11 hours of deliberation over three days. The jury on April 24 found Crittenden guilty of robbery and two first-degree counts of murder.
