Treatment Plant to Hold Open House

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold an open house today at a North Hollywood treatment plant used to purge ground-water supplies of chemical solvents.
The open house, from 10 a.m. to noon at 11845 Vose St., is intended to show off a 45-foot-high aeration tower and related equipment developed by DWP with $2 million in federal and state funds under the federal Superfund program.
The treatment system, which began operating in March, cleans 2,000 gallons a minute of ground water for use in city water supplies.
