Federal parks along America’s seashores are facing environmental threats ranging from oil spills to the increasing use of all-terrain recreational vehicles, the Wilderness Society said in a report on 31 coastal parks. The conservation group noted the devastation of federal park beaches from the oil spill in Alaska, but said other coastal parks also “are fending off a distressing variety of threats that eventually may overwhelm them.” California parks and seashore areas examined included Golden Gate, Channel Islands, Gateway, Redwood and Point Reyes.
