IN BRIEF : French to Play in S. African Events

The president of the French rugby federation today announced that French players will be allowed to participate in the 100th anniversary of the South African Rugby Federation and said a boycott of South African sports events “would not do much good and would hurt blacks more than whites.”

Federation President Albert Ferrasse said the federation would not take any action to stop French players after noting that players from Wales, Scotland and England also will take part. “It’s clear. We’ll follow the lead of our British friends,” he said. “The affair has become more politics than sports.”
