Charges Dropped Against Deputy
In the May 24 article about Ross’ arrest (“Ross Described as ‘Shaking’ in Prostitute’s Account of Arrest,” Metro), his lawyer, Jay Jaffee, states “there was no use of drugs” (by Ross) that night, and all the chemical tests confirm that,” but then he declined to comment on whether his client had been drinking.
I believe our society must include alcohol as a drug when we describe investigations of criminal activities.
Alcohol and nicotine are gateway drugs that have been identified as substances that predispose our youth to crime. Alcohol certainly is the most abused drug in our society. It is time to treat it with caution and respect.
