Nevada Gov. Bob Miller, signing a tax package to help pay for up to $35 million in Reno-area facilities for the 1998 Winter Olympics, said he has assurances Reno is still in the running.

As he signed the bill, Miller said he spoke with New York Yankee Owner George Steinbrenner, a member of the United States Olympic Committee executive board, who said the USOC is open to proposals this weekend from all four candidate cities for the U.S. bid.
