LOCAL : Transsexual Ordered to Begin Prison
A self-described transsexual who fled the state nine years ago to avoid prison for a fraud scheme involving marketing of a three-wheel car was ordered today to begin serving her sentence.
Superior Court Judge David Horowitz ordered Geraldine Elizabeth Carmichael to immediately begin serving a 1-to-10-year prison sentence for conspiracy, grand theft and stock fraud. Although Carmichael, 60, says she is a transsexual, court officials said she will serve her sentence in a men’s prison. Carmichael was captured earlier this year in Dale, Tex., ending nine years as a fugitive.
