Calabrian Mafia Linked to Killing of Italian Priest
From Reuters
Reggio Calabria, Italy — A Catholic priest was shot to death Friday in remote mountains in southern Italy and police said he may have been slain by the Calabrian Mafia.
POlice found Father Giosue Giovinazzo,, 53, slumped over the wheel of his car on a road near the Aspromonte mountain sanctuary of Polsi, where he worked. He was the first priest to be murdered in Calabria since 1966.
Police said Giovinazzo may have been killed after surprising fugitive gangsters or in a private vendetta.
