A federal judge today ordered three United Mine Workers strike organizers jailed for violating his ban on sit-down demonstrations designed to block coal delivery trucks.

U.S. District Judge Glen M. Williams said his May 24 order prohibiting the demonstrations against Pittston Coal Group had been ignored, and found strike coordinators Marty Hudson, Jackie Stump and C. A. Phillips in contempt of court.
