Gary Hicks Wins Scratch Main Race

Gary Hicks of Glen Avon won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 3,162 Friday night in the weekly speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Steve Lucero of Riverside was second, Billy Hamil of Monrovia third and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa fourth.

Walt Farnum of Ventura won the eight-lap handicap main event. Jim Sisemore of Simi finished second, Scotty Brant of Riverside took third, Brad Oxley of San Clemente was fourth and Hamil was fifth.
